Better Life Through Better Health
Just a Bit Gets
You Fit
A healthy lifestyle doesn’t
have to be complicated. Just 30 minutes of exercise most days of the
week can decrease risk for
heart disease, cancer, diabetes, arthritis and even depression. Exercise
can make one feel younger and stronger.
Physical activity can be as
simple as two fifteen-minute walks a day. Play Frisbee or Ping-Pong or
fetch with the dog. (If you don’t have a dog, borrow the neighbor’s.)
Dance in the living room to your favorite music or shoot some hoops with
friends at the park. Coach a little league team or try a walk in the
woods to look for wildlife. Maintain a garden or rake the yard. Avoid
sitting for more than 30 minutes at a time. At work, push away from your
desk and do a few chair exercises or ten jumping jacks. Take a walk with
co-workers during a morning break. You will be more productive at work
and less likely to get sick. Gain additional health benefits through
greater amounts of physical activity.
