WHAT IS WIC?

WIC is a no-cost Nutrition Education Program that helps families eat well and stay healthy.

 

HOW DO I GET WIC?

In order to receive WIC benefits, you must meet certain guidelines. You can check the WIC Prescreening Tool on the USDA website to see if you may qualify or click here to see financial and other requirements.

 

You will need to make an appointment to apply for WIC or receive WIC services. Click here for information about hours, locations and what you will need to bring.

 

 

WHAT DOES WIC PROVIDE?

 

Nutritious foods are provided by WIC to help families eat healthy. Click here to find out more about the variety of WIC Foods available.

 

Nutrition Counseling is provided to families who might need specific information because of a medical condition or nutrition issue. WIC provides free, one-on-one visits with the Registered Dietitians to help families get the best information for their needs. Click here to find out more about our Registered Dietitian Services.

 

Nutrition Education is a benefit of the WIC program. Every time your WIC Bridge Card is re-loaded, you receive nutrition education either in the WIC Clinic or online. Breastfeeding is one of the very best gifts you can give your baby. WIC recommends that mothers breastfeed their babies, and we're here to help with Breastfeeding Education and Support.

Health Care Referrals. WIC works closely with other health care providers. Many private and public health care providers refer to us, and we provide referrals to our participants as needed for health and social services. Some of the referrals we can make include:

  • immunizations

  • substance abuse counseling and treatment

  • prenatal care

  • smoking cessation

  • lead screening

  • Healthy Kids/MI Child insurance program
