School Health Services

The Genesee County Health Department School Health Services Program enhances the educational processes of children and youth through improvement in their health status and contribute to their attainment of greater knowledge.  Public health nurses strengthen and facilitate the educational process by improving and protecting the health status of school age children and staff by identifying and assisting in the removal or modification of health related barriers to the learning and teaching process.  The major focus of public health nursing services is the prevention of illness and disability, and the early detection and correction of health problems.  Public Health Nurses, as needed, in cooperation with the school administration, revise or develop district policy and procedures that are compatible with state law.  Funding for the program is collaboration between local districts and Genesee County.  For more information, contact Randa McCall at 257-3591.
