Current Situation

  • The Genesee County Health Department (GCHD) has been investigating a case of Active Tuberculosis (TB) Disease at Flint Central Academy in the Flint Community Schools since March 2007 (Link to Timeline of Events)

  • 162 close contacts have been identified and notified for skin testing; as of July 30, 2007, 120 have completed their skin testing

  • Two children have tested positive for tuberculosis infection in Flint Central High School

  • GCHD strongly encourages the remaining 42 who have not completed their skin testing to visit one of the 3 Health Department clinic sites for a skin test

  • GCHD is making home visits to encourage the remaining 42 to complete their testing

  • Testing is free of charge at any of the GCHD clinics for identified close contacts
