RE:  Grand Blanc Lanes awarded for smoke-free bowling on Saturdays

The Genesee County Health Department (GCHD) and the Smoke-free, Multi-Agency, Resource Team (SMART) congratulate Grand Blanc Lanes, located at  5301 Saginaw Street, for the decision to provide smoke-free bowling every Saturday from 12:00 noon – 5:00pm.  Bowling is a fun activity often enjoyed by families and youth desiring a smoke-free environment.

More than 4,700 chemicals have been identified in secondhand smoke and at least 53 of these are known to cause cancer in humans.  Secondhand smoke is the third leading cause of preventable death in this country, killing 53,000 nonsmokers in the U.S. each year.  Even half an hour of secondhand smoke exposure causes heart damage similar to that of a pack-a-day smoker.

GCHD and SMART will be presenting Grand Blanc Lanes with an award of recognition for providing Genesee County citizens with an opportunity for smoke free bowling.
