RE:
HIV Testing Day Summer Fun Health Fair
The Genesee County Health Department (GCHD), in
recognition of National HIV Testing Day, will promote free HIV testing, HIV
education and prizes during our “Summer Fun Health Fair” on Wednesday June
18, 2008. The family friendly health fair will be held in the commons area
on the second floor of the Floyd J. McCree Courts & Human Services Building
located at 630 S. Saginaw Street. While any person who is sexually active is
at risk for getting HIV, women and people of color are more likely to become
infected.
As a Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) designated
HIV counseling and testing site, trained GCHD staff will offer free HIV
testing in the adult clinic. The hours for the June 18th health
fair are 10:00am to 3:00pm. The GCHD encourages anyone who is sexually
active to get tested for HIV. Other GCHD representatives will also be on
hand from tobacco, maternal-infant health and the Genesee Health Plan to
provide education and answer questions. The Summer Fun Health Fair and HIV
testing are free to the public, however, any parking fees are the
responsibility of the participants. Please contact the Genesee County Health
Department at 810-341-5900 if you have questions regarding the event.
