RE:  Baldwin ’s Family Dining to be Awarded for Smoke-free Environment

On Monday, July 2, 2007 at 8:30a.m. , Baldwin ’s Family Dining will be awarded a Smoke-free Dining Award by the Genesee County Health Department and the Smoke-free, Multi-Agency Resource Team (SMART).  This award recognizes Baldwin ’s for providing Genesee County residents with a healthy environment as a smoke-free restaurant.  Baldwin ’s Family Dining is located at 11611 N. Saginaw Street in Mt. Morris and will be 100% smoke-free starting Sunday, July 1, 2007 .  Providing a smoke-free environment protects the health of employees and customers, while providing a pleasurable dining experience.

According to the recent U.S. Surgeon General’s Report, there is no risk-free level of exposure to secondhand smoke; even breathing a little poses a risk to health.   The report also concluded that eliminating smoking in indoor spaces is the only way to fully protect nonsmokers from secondhand smoke exposure.  Separating smokers from nonsmokers, cleaning the air, and ventilating buildings cannot eliminate secondhand smoke exposure.  “We are proud to honor Baldwin ’s Family Dining for making the health of their employees and patrons a priority”, stated Ann Goldon, Health Education Coordinator for the Genesee County Health Department.  To access an updated Genesee County Smoke Free Dining guide visit www.gchd.us.
