RE:
2005 Speak to Your
Health!
Community Survey Presentation
How
many
Genesee
County
residents participate in
activities to improve their neighborhoods? How often are residents physically
active? Are
Flint
residents more or less likely
to have health insurance coverage than
Genesee
County
residents outside of
Flint
? The answers to these questions
and more from the 2005 Speak to Your
Health! Community Survey of over 1700
Genesee
County
residents will be presented on
October 6, 2005
from
4:00
to
6:00 p.m.
in the Genesee County Community Action Resource Department (GCCARD)
Large Conference Room,
601 N. Saginaw Street
. The presentation will include
information about HIV/STD risk behaviors, nutrition, access to healthcare,
physical activity, neighborhood participation and perceptions, spirituality and
health, and diabetes risk and screening, among other topics. Results from the
2003 and 2005 surveys will be compared to examine possible changes in community
health. Learn how local organizations can access this information for their own
work, including grant-writing, program development and evaluation, and more. For
further information or to RSVP, call (810) 768-7970.
The
Speak to Your Health! Community Survey is a project of the
Prevention Research Center of Michigan (PRC/MI) Genesee County Community Board.
The goals of the survey are to increase understanding of the
health-related behaviors and attitudes of
Genesee
County
residents, inform health
policy, support needs assessments for developing programs, and identify
community assets. The purpose of the PRC/MI Community Board is to carry out a
community-driven research agenda to improve the health of
Genesee
County
residents, especially those
experiencing a disproportionate share of poor health outcomes. The organizations
represented on the PRC/MI Community Board are Dort-Oak Park Neighborhood House,
Faith Access to Community Economic Development, Flint/Genesee County
Neighborhood Roundtable,
Flint
