RE:                             WISEWOMAN Program

Heart disease, cancer and stroke are the major causes of death in Genesee County.  In 2002, 620 women died from heart disease in Genesee County .

The Genesee County Health Department’s Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program (BCCCP) is pleased to announce the arrival of the WISEWOMAN (Well-Integrated Screening and Evaluation for Women Across the Nation) Program.  The primary focus of the WISE WOMAN Program is to help women reduce risk  factors for cardiovascular disease (CVD) through change in lifestyle behavior.  Women will receive FREE blood pressure and cholesterol screening along with lifestyle counseling.  Referrals to other  free or low cost community programs and health care services will be made as needed.  Women are only eligible for the WISEWOMAN Program if they are enrolled in the BCCCP Program.   The Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program provides FREE annual breast and cervical screening services to women age 40 years or older who qualify.  Call (810) 237-4545 today and take advantage of these great programs.  Get started on your road to a healthier lifestyle today.
