The Genesee County Health Department
currently has flu vaccine available. The
vaccine available is for those 4 years old and older.
Considering that the normal peak flu season is February and March, it is
still important to receive the vaccine. Those
in need of the flu vaccine should see their doctor or utilize one of clinics at
the Genesee County Health Department during the following immunization clinic

The cost for the flu vaccine is $11.
FluMist™
is still available at the Burton Branch at the same
clinic times.
Please review the following
information regarding FluMist™:

FluMist™ is only for healthy
people ages 5-49 years of age.
·
FluMist™ should not be given to
anyone who has an illness with fever or a respiratory illness until 3 days after
symptoms have subsided.
·
FluMist™ should not be used,
under any circumstances, in anyone with an allergy to any part of the vaccine,
including eggs; in children and adolescents receiving aspirin therapy; in people
who have a history of Guillain-Barré syndrome; and in people with known or
suspected immune system problems. Pregnant women and people with certain medical
conditions, asthma, or reactive airways disease should not get FluMist™. Ask
your health care professional if FluMist™ is right for you and your family.

The cost for FluMist™ will be $30 cash or check. There
will be a $25 mail-in rebate coupon available for those getting the vaccine.
The net cost of the vaccine, after the mail-in rebate, is $5. Insurances
cannot be billed for FluMist™.
