PUBLIC HEALTH ADVISORY - Genesee County Health Officer Robert M. Pestronk recommends against any contact with Silver Lake. Notification of the water sample test results and any revisions or withdrawal of the Public Health Advisory will be made as soon as results are available.

On June 5, 2002, the Fenton Township Department of Public Works experienced an unauthorized discharge of sanitary sewage into Silver Lake immediately west of Owen and Silvercrest Roads in Section 33 of Fenton Township. At least 100 gallons of sewage have been released. The discharge site has now been secured.

The Genesee County Health Department will be sampling the water to determine the impact upon water quality and human contact.
