Genesee County Health Department
Better Life Through Better Health

The Beautiful Black Woman Without Heart Disease Project

Ladies! Experience the total beauty look: "Healthy Inside; Beautiful Outside!" Join the Genesee County Health Department and local area salons for important health information that can last a lifetime. Be one of the many women in Genesee County to be part of the "Beautiful Black Woman Without Heart Disease" project November 26th through December 21st.

Cardiovascular disease kills more women than all forms of cancer, chronic lung disease, pneumonia, diabetes, accidents and AIDS combined. African American women have higher rates of cardiovascular disease than women of other races.

More women than men have high total cholesterol levels, high LDL (bad cholesterol) levels, are physically inactive and are obese. All of these factors contribute to cardiovascular disease.

Read and learn important facts about heart disease and ways to reduce your risk while relaxing with the other ladies at your area salon. You will also be given an opportunity to have your cholesterol level checked for FREE! For participating in this project, you will receive incentives, a chance to win prizes, and most importantly, valuable health information.

The "Beautiful Black Woman Without Heart Disease" project is brought to you by the Genesee County Health Department. Participating salons include: Beauty

Image, Kings and Queens, Salon De’Excellence and Studio 10. For more information, call the Genesee County Health Department (810) 785-5279.
