Better Life Through Better Health
Keep the Beat!!
Exercise, exercise, exercise. It’s hard to
believe that as little as 30 minutes of moderate
activity a day can help!
There are eight important benefits to exercise.
- Improved heart function:
More blood is
pumped with each heartbeat, thereby reducing
the number of beats necessary. It also
improves blood circulation.
Improved breathing:
The muscles
connected to the diaphragm may increase lung
capacity. More oxygen is delivered to the
body.
Blood pressure control is improved:
Activity improves the tone of muscles and
blood vessels. The number of capillaries in
active muscles increases and therefore improve
circulation.
Improves muscle and bones: Better
muscle tone is developed. Body posture and
shape improves. Stronger muscles and bone
improve balance and reduce the potential for
accidents.
Activity provides blood benefits:
Cardiovascular risks are lowered as are
cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
Additionally, physical activity decreases LDL
(bad cholesterol) and increases HDLs (good
cholesterol).
Improved weight control: Burns extra
calories and reduces the appetite.
Better diabetes control: Physical
activity decreases insulin resistance allowing
better use, and possibly reducing the amount
of insulin needed.
Psychological benefits:
Exercise
reduces stress by increasing the ability to
relax, relieves depression, decreases fatigue
and increases alertness and productivity.
It only takes 30 minutes of moderate physical
activity a day to improve your health.
